Frequently Asked Questions whilst working for M2 Education

In short, yes. In order for us to place you within a school you must have completed an appropriate qualification and/or training.

For teaching positions: candidates must have a recognised teaching qualification and must have taught the UK National Curriculum. If you have a degree or equivalent qualification, you can do postgraduate primary or secondary teacher training. If you do not have a degree and are not studying for one, you can do undergraduate teacher training. You need the following GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, or equivalent qualifications: English.

For teaching assistants/support staff: each school sets its own entry requirements, though you’ll usually need GCSEs grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) in English and maths. You’ll also need to have experience of working within childcare, whether it be a school, residential setting, childminder or similar roles. A qualification in nursery work, childcare, playwork or youth work will give you an advantage.

In order to register with M2 Education we will need the following from you:
Teacher registrations:

  • Hold a degree-level qualification with QTS (or be in your final your of teacher training)
  • If you are Welsh-trained, then you must have full registration with the Education Workforce Council EWC or be one the process of registering.
  • If you are a teacher returning from abroad then you must have recently taught the British/UK curriculum and you must have an overseas police check
  • Have experience teaching within the classroom in the last 6 years
  • Have a valid VISA or hold a valid UK/EU Passport
  • Have relevant proof of identification (if you don’t hold a UK/EU passport)
  • Have or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check – if you currently hold a DBS then this must be registered on the update service in order for us to use it.

*You must be able to provide original documents for verification of all of the above.

 

Teaching Assistants and support staff registrations:

  • You must have worked within a childcare setting within the past 3 years
  • Have a valid VISA or hold a valid UK/EU Passport
  • Have relevant proof of identification (if you don’t hold a UK/EU passport)
  • Have or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check – if you currently hold a DBS then this must be registered on the update service in order for us to use it.

All candidates that register with M2 Education must undergo a face-to-face or video registration before working within a school. A consultant that works with schools in your area will discuss a date and time that suits you.

Not at all, registering with M2 Education is completely free, however, the only payment that you may have to make is for your Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS check. which is a payment of £50 which is charged by our DBS portal.

If you have a DBS that is valid and already registered* on the update service, then we will be able to accept this without having to complete a new DBS, making the process a lot quicker.

*Valid DBSs must be Enhanced with Barred Lists DBS checks.

Most definitely, each year we register final year students who are coming to the end of their course looking to get straight into schools and earn some extra income. This is a great way to get your foot in the door with schools as well and to show them your potential as a future ECT.
Yes, you can. No matter what another agency may tell you, you are under no contract and can freely register with as many agencies as you like, however, we only recommend that you sign up to two or three agencies as it can become slightly confusing if you sign up to more!

Yes and no. If you have been registered with M2 Education previously and carried out work for us in the past 12 months then we can re-enable your file, however, we will need to carry out the relevant reference checks prior to offering you work.

If you have not worked with M2 Education within 12 months then we will have to complete a full registration and where appropriate update your documentation.

Pay Related FAQs

All of M2 Educations candidates are paid weekly, so long as we have a timesheet submitted by our deadline of Monday at 11 am. 

Your payment will be processed each week and deposited into your account on a Friday along with your payslip.

Teaching and Teaching Assistant’s pay rates are based on experience, qualifications and the position that you undertake within a school. During your registration, your consultant will take all of the above into account and will discuss your pay rate.


We ensure that the pay you receive is the pay that you deserve and that all pay rates are competitive rates of pay, making sure that you are entirely satisfied.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the work that we offer and with it being temporary, means there is no entitlement to holiday pay.

All of our pay rates are inclusive of the 10.77% statutory holiday pay.
